Engen is an Africa-based energy company focus-
ing on the downstream refined petroleum products
market and related businesses. The company’s core
functions are the refining of crude oil, the marketing
of primary refined petroleum products, and the provi-
sion of convenience services via its extensive retail
network.
Viewed in the context of the classic petroleum product
value chain, Engen is a “downstream-focused” com-
pany. As a refiner-marketer of petroleum and related
products, it channels ongoing investment into the En-
gen Refinery, one of South Africa’s leading refineries.
But at the very core of its being, the company focuses
on marketing its products via various channels, un-
der the umbrella of Engen Sales & Marketing (ESM).
ESM supports retail networks and commercial sup-
ply arrangements in all the petroland diesel-buying
markets and specialized channels for the company’s
lubricants, chemicals, and special products. To tie
the downstream value chain together, Engen has a
Supply, Trading & Optimization division which is the
system balancer and optimizer.
Today, Engen Petroleum is active in South Africa, Bo-
tswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Kenya,
Ghana, Gabon, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Zambia,
Malawi, Lesotho, Swaziland, Mauritius, Reunion, and
Congo-Kinshasa.
Engen works with values that are consciously held
and consistently applied. They are the standards of
excellence the company strives to achieve as a suc-
cessful business and a responsible corporate citizen.
Engen also believes it is part of its difference and
competitive advantage in the market place.
