es. Through its more than 66,000 colleagues world-
wide, Aon unites to empower results for clients in
over 120 countries via innovative and effective risk
and people solutions and through industry-leading
global resources and technical expertise. Aon has
been named repeatedly as the world’s best broker,
best insurance intermediary, reinsurance intermedi-
ary, captives manager, and best employee benefits
consulting firm by multiple industry sources.
Aon Zambia differentiates itself from its local com-
petitors through its ability to provide a full range of
insurance and risk consultancy services via a global
network of expertise. This includes retail insurance
broking (all classes of non-life insurance), risk man-
agement services (loss control surveys), employee
benefits consulting (group life assurance, funeral,
and medical schemes) and pension fund adminis-
tration.
Aon Zambia has a staff complement of 31, is head-
quartered in Lusaka, and operates a Copperbelt
Branch located in Kitwe.
Aon’s presence in Zambia dates back to 1952 when
J.H. Minet Zambia Limited was established as a
locally registered insurance broking and risk man-
agement company. The company was nationalized
in 1976 but J.H. Minet’s involvement continued in
the form of a management contract for the nation-
alized entity, Zambia National Insurance Brokers
(Z.N.I.B.), until 1989.
In 1997, Minet was acquired the following year by
Aon by virtue of Aon’s acquisition of the worldwide
operations of the Minet Group. The rapid growth of
the company resulted in Aon Zambia becoming the
largest locally registered broker within three years
of operational start up, a position which it continues
to enjoy today. Aon Zambia is a wholly owned sub-
sidiary of Aon International Holdings.
The company’s key advantage is its broad view of
two of the most important issues in the economy
today: risk and people. With an employee base of
66,000 people working in more than 120 countries,
it can anticipate how changes in one sector impact
another.
Another advantage is its client focus: every day
its employees ask, “How can we help a client,” or
“How can we help a colleague help a client?” Be-
cause each of its client groups has unique needs,
its professionals—coordinated by strategic account
managers or relationship managers—specialize by
product, function, and client industry. By truly listen-
ing to clients and working with clients as partners,
Aon can best develop solutions that work seam-
lessly with businesses.

products and services.
BancABC has a proud heritage dating back to 1956.
The Group, which has its head office in Botswana,
was formed as a result of a series of mergers and
acquisitions of financial institutions operating in
southern Africa. This has given BancABC a strong
geographical footprint as well as a sound under-
standing of the diverse financial markets within
the region. As a result, the Bank has operations in
Botswana, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimba-
bwe, and a group services office in South Africa.
BancABC Zambia operates a network of 18 branch-
es across the country. Along with their already es-
tablished corporate banking services and recently
launched retail operations, they have also begun
extensive microlending operations. Their microlend-
ing operations are a key focus of the Bank’s long-
term plans for reaching out to unbanked Zambians
and attaining a larger market share.
BancABC has its primary listing on the Botswana
Stock Exchange and a secondary listing on the Zim-
