Manda Hill: Located on the Great East Rd, Manda
Hill has a big Shoprite supermarket, and offers ca-
fes, fast food, and proper sit down restaurants as
well as a and variety of small shops (several cloth-
ing stores, banks, Forex Bureau d’Echange a craft
shop etc…)

Located further down Great East Rd, Ar-
cades shopping centre complements Manda Hill with
another supermarket (Spar) and a large range of
clothing stores, banks, and boutique stores. Arcades
also has a high-speed wireless internet café, and a
very comfortable modern Cinema.
The Castle:
Located on Kafue road, at the Castle
shopping centre you’ll find a supermarket and sev-

, with its large super-
market (Pick N Pay), infamous Bagel Shop, and a
great authentic Irish Pub (O’Hagen’s), make this is
another great location to check out. Other supermar-

bulonga (Melissa Supermarket), and in Northmead.
Markets
If not for shopping, it’s an interesting experience and
well worth a visit to experience the colourful and live-
ly atmosphere of the Lusaka markets. The Soweto
Market is located on Independence Avenue opposite
the Tazara building, two roads west of Cairo Road.
A new, smarter, covered market has been built along
Freedom Way.
Curios and crafts
There are several craft and curio markets in Lusaka.
Certainly one of the most interesting is the Kabwata
Cultural Centre on Burna Road. You will see the ron-
davels from the road. These are the remains of 300
huts built in the 1930’s. You will find all the best of
Zambian art from masks, wooden animal carvings,
