The factory was established in 1972, the original plan was to make it a Factory for production of small steel pipes. The project and all the technology employed was done by a German firm under the name of "Hisen" from Düsseldorf, and the whole of the facilities were provided by the purchase of the land by "Blomand" from Hamburg. From 1972 on it worked at full capacity. In the year 1982 investments in restructuring and improvement turn develop the capacities to transform the Factory to allow production of larger tubes, with a capacity of production of 15.0000 tones of tube a year. The total capacity of the old factory was of some 200.000 tones tube a year. This factory produced and sold more than one million tones of tubes all around the world. In the phase that followed the war, we went throught some changes because from the circumstance that we found it on. During the Serbian ruling amongst other things they also changed the name of the Factory, initially after the war we changed the name of the Factory and we turned the old one, so the original name of the factory is IMK- Factory for production of the steel tubes. IMK- stands for Metallic Industry of Kosovo. Some reserves of the old tubes were left from ten years prior, and we found five thousand tones of sheet-iron. The total damages that was done during the war is in value about 4 million euros. We have in the last two years done some technical improvements and found new resources, which we have completed successfully. Our technical resources are a 100% functional, from working capital regained we have invest one million in resurrection of production. We plan resurrect our marketing and regain control, during the war and before the war the company in general has lost in reputation. During this year we are planning to become certificated according to "ISO" standards, so we have done 70 percent of total work needed it for this, and we also aim at gaining the certification by the American Institute for Control, this certificate will give the factory what it had from the beginning but had lost during the war.

 Spiral Pipes with Spiral Seaming |
· Production of steel pipes with a spiral seaming. Diameters vary between 355,6 mm and up to 20302 mm
· Thickness of pipes from 3,5 mm up to 14 mm.
· Standard length from 11 m to 12 m, or if ordered according to the clients wish from 8 m up to 16 m.
· All products are maid according to international standards foreseen by ISO 9001- 1994
| Steel Pipes with a Long Seaming |
The production line includes pipes with a long straight welding in diameters from 114,3 mm up to 406,4 mm, in length from 6 m up to 14 m, standard length from 11 m up to 12 m. The pipes once produced and sent according to the world standards of API, DIN, ASTM, ISO and other international norms. IMK also produces pipes for deep drilling. The thickness of pipes range from 3,18 mm up to 12,7 mm. The oblique angle profiles with dimensions from 80 x 80 to 200 x 200mm
and from 60 x 140 mm to 150 x 350 mm according to API and DIN standards. We cut and frame all our products both in width and length as desired. According to the requirements of the client we finalize the products rewrapped in rolls or pattered and cut in specific length as requested.

| PROTECTION OF STEEL PIPES FROM THE CORROSION |
All our pipes are isolation of with a coating based on bitumen: This is Inner capital isolation 'BLC' with a thickness of 100 up to 200 µ. Outer isolation methods with bitumen and glass wool can have a thickness of outer isolation from to 8 mm up to 32,5 mm.
We also insert isolation in epoxied resius where the thickness reaches 100 - 200 µ. We will soon we introduce the process of inner isolation with cement plaster.

The assembling working unit carries out the following duties:
Assembling of water supply pipelines
Assembling of heating pipelines (central heating)
Assembling of oil pipelines
Producing and assembling of various steel constructions
Producing of plastic parts, joints, various heat reducing devices of all dimensions that by IMK itself.
Producing of reservoirs, water and gas tanks with various capacities.
Various works (roofs, containers, etc.) to tailor made needs
| Future Plans |
Fabrika Tubave IMK is a Socially Owned Enterprise. Thought our company has been able to resume operations, with the assistance of a foreign investor theirs could be one of the most successful enterprises in Kosovo. We are open for cooperation with a similar or compatible firm to enter joint ventures, or any other type of partnership that would give us access to new sources of financing, management skills, technology as well as perhaps new markets to operate. The General Manager Mr. Metushi assures investors that the war ended and now the people of Kosova are ready for business and certainly moving forward. We are all waiting for cooperation with international firms. Kosova has big potential; flexible people and is gifted with a very qualified with young labour force and a good number of workers with technical expertise. In addition, it also has natural recourses plus its location in the central Balkan region makes it ideal as a hub for the transportation and distribution of goods.
The company is blessed with large facilities and a good level of technical capabilities and expertise. We are hoping to be part of the 8th corridor project which is still to be executed.
